Qoya

Embodied Movement for Women

As a certified Qoya teacher, I offer Qoya embodied movement classes. At this time I am offering classes online through Zoom about once a month. A typical class lasts an hour and a half to two hours on a weekday evening.

I love dancing Qoya in person, but I have also grown to appreciate virtual Qoya! Women from all over the world can dance together without leaving our homes. In the comfort of our own homes, we can move freely and bring the energy of Qoya into our own spaces, weaving it into our everyday lives.

What Is Qoya?

Qoya (pronounced “koi-a”) is movement as medicine.  In Qoya we dance to remember our essence.

Our essence as women is wise, wild, and free.

Qoya classes incorporate dance, yoga, female sensual movement, meditation, and sharing. We give ourselves permission to slow down to feel more.

There are no levels in Qoya - no beginner, intermediate, or advanced.  There is no way to do Qoya wrong.

Qoya invites you to move your body in a way that feels good and true.  It grants permission to focus on how your body feels, not on how it looks.  Through Qoya, we connect to our present moment lived experience.

Qoya classes are set to music and organized around themes.  The theme of a Qoya class might be Gratitude; or Letting Go; or Space to Feel.

Qoya: Text

Qoya might be for you if...

You identify as a woman.

You desire to move your body.

You used to dance and at some point you stopped.

You’ve never danced because you don’t want to get it wrong.

You want to connect with other women and are open to receiving other women’s heartfelt shares.
